so happy to come home after day work and chill to Don miller / begonia and just be Bliss of his soothing manner of talking and oh so lovely begonia Thank YOU for the content and wonderful interview
I am so lucky live near them !! They have the best plant and with best qualities … usually my go to for any plants ! The staffs are very kind, knowledgeable… love them ..
Honestly, I could live in there… Begonia are my all time favourite , and the plant that hijacked my brain & bank…😂 I love nature in general, but begonia’s have my literal full attention when ever I see one no matter what species or hybrid. I love the hair , asymmetry , different shades/shapes/sizes , the difference in flowers & the impact the light spectrum has on the growth & final results in colour too is something I found so interesting. I always came across damaged ones at my work , and the first plant I decided to make a project of was a Glowing Embers variety that like I said , wasn’t doing too well… But also the colours were not what I’d call ‘glowing embers’😂 it was musty shades of light greens & mixes of dark greens throughout but also yellow & brown throughout.. it had far too much light & rain I personally think , it also didn’t flower that the rest of that year (6months) Fast forward 1 year , I’ve kept it inside & restricted light apart from red mainly (slightly tinted LEDs) , and this plant is THRIVING. It’s now turned a velvety black or extremely dark green with slight red tints in places and ranges with dark or pale green veins , that characteristic crimson red stalk & under leaf and it has these beautifully dainty mixed sorbet orange & lemon yellow flowers . and although my method caused it to run abit leggy for a few months , ive had fun giving it shape & some new life it otherwise wouldn’t of had. I’ve basically started bonsai begonias as a major hobby from that one plant , and like I said it just made me gain such a deeper appreciation for Begonias & plants in general. I’ve still got that beauty & hopefully will for years to come !
I'm so booming jealous, I don't have much success with begonias yet they are the love of my life, thank you for such an amazing and wonderful video. I wish I could work at Stave's Leaves
Did you hear the jets and planes fly over? Lillianthal believed that if man could fly, there would be no more war. That parent plants travel the World to meet and have Steve's Leaves through Don Miller and his colleagues create new life, from distant Begonias, should now be of great consolation to him for his great and passionate efforts.
Mr. Miller could you create a mini B with one, with a scent or there is one actually? Window sills are small and a tiny one could be placed further from a cold window pane in Winter. Thanks everyone for this fascinating video.
Thank you for posting this. Dose Don teach classes or give private lesson in begonia care and hybridization? I’d be very interested in that indeed. 💚😎💚
Hey summer nice coverage on this genus. I watched your video with monica in missoury botanical, and I wondering all the time about her comment about the real monstera obliqua, it will be very spectacular if you elaborate more about that species. Thank you :)
Hi Summer, we have a permaculture farm and we follow you for a long time. Can you please recommend us a website to order vegetable and herb seeds from in America? There are so many of them and we don't know which one is worth spending delivery money and which one we can trust to have quality seeds. Thank you so much, we love your work! 🙂🙏 🌻
Just a warning. If you do a plant auction on Steve's Leaves they will increase the time on an auction even after you receive a notice that you have won the auction. I was told it was so more people can participate, but by extending the time limit, after it has officially ended, they are able to make more money. If you don't mind winning, and then being forced to pay more to win again, then their auctions are the ones for you.
I had so many begonias last year, but I lost alllllll of them, because they got infected with begonia mold and within days it infected all the begonias in my house. They never recovered. I lost about 15 begonias. I haven't bought another one since, I'm still upset about it.
:( sorry, that’s awful. where do you live? If you’re in the UK I can send you free begonia cuttings if you can cover postage cost. I got Pavonina AKA Peacock(rhizomatous) Cumbria + Salsa(Rexes), and Highway(cane). Either way I hope you get back into the joy of it one day and find joy in new growth 🌱
Hey, how are you beautiful ?. Your channel is doing well, good to see. I'm digging, 2 weeks of it. I'm building a permaculture food forest. Interesting, time to read.
